Why?

The floral scene in Singapore is experiencing a renaissance with many honing their floristry skills and looking for creative platforms to share and grow it.

As floral creatives ourselves, we want to create a floral and creative community that brings together kindred spirits not just to learn but to grow together.

This series of classes over 2 days serves as an open experience where we will be sharing our know-hows on key aspects of floristry, and to assist with improving methods and developing styles.

This is for anyone looking to discover, learn or be inspired.

What?

At this second instalment of the Floral Bootcamp, students can expect to learn Site Installations, Car Decor, Hanging Installations and Table Centrepieces. A new addition to this year's bootcamp is the Introduction to Florals & Techniques for Beginners.

This year we will focus primarily on florals, with the objective of digging deeper into floristry techniques.

The classes will be collectively taught by Fox & Rabbit from Perth, Floral Magic, Heaven in a Wild Flower, and Shop Wonderland. With a combined experience of more than 15 years, this bootcamp will serve as a good platform for current florists to hone their skills, or for upstarts to acquire the floristry know-how.

Participants may choose to attend the entire 2-day boot camp or join a single day's programme.

Who?

Floral Magic
In Floral Magic's 16 years, we have honed a fresh, moving and organic aesthetic, often taking cues from nature. Our work is ground in the technical aspects of arrangement and structure making, together with a trained eye in achieving colour, form and textural balance. We translate these values in our everyday floral arrangements and dramatically transform venues for weddings or events with lush floral and botanical styling.

Josephine is 1/4 of the core team of family florists at Floral Magic. Prior to 2012, she worked in fashion marketing before switching her garb for gear in the floristry business. Having trained locally as well as in New York, she has brought Floral Magic to weddings, parties and events ranging from product launches to gala dinners.

Fox and Rabbit
Rebecca Const is the owner and creative director of Fox and Rabbit – her adventures began in 2010, within the narrow laundry of her parents’ home. Rebecca was just 19 years of age and spent her days in pyjamas snipping bundles of blooms nestled between baskets of school uniforms and smelly socks. As the business grew, she was ‘upgraded’ to a lounge room at the front of the home. This room saw countless wedding all-nighters, painful Valentine’s Day preparations, some of the best and worst business decisions, the first incredible staff members joining the team, and the irreparable damage to a certain blush carpet.

Years on, Fox and Rabbit is a thriving entity promising unique, wildly un-tradition and completely original wedding flowers to loved-up couples right across Western Australia. The business has been featured in more magazines, blog articles and newspapers than one can count, with over 500 weddings snugly tucked under their belt.

It may surprise you to know that Rebecca never studied to be a florist. She never took a short course or endured a traineeship. In fact the first floral classroom environment she found herself in was one she was teaching!

Due to high demand, Rebecca launched a workshop arm to the business in late 2013. The workshops were designed for sharing skills, tips, tricks and expertise developed over her self-taught floristry career and building a floristry business from the ground up. She could never have predicted how wildly successful these workshops would been with waiting lists continuing to grow.

Heaven in a Wild Flower
Heaven in a Wild Flower is a boutique floral design, event styling, and vintage rental company in Singapore, specialising in creating beautiful occasions through gorgeous florals, handmade details, inspirational design, and unique vintage items. It started out as the events arm of the much-loved artisan bakery café and vintage home store where we have been designing dessert tables, florals and event styling for clients. We love making their special events even more beautiful with our work and nothing makes us happier than knowing that we’ve been instrumental in making someone’s day extra special.

Our name takes inspiration from William Blake’s poem, Auguries of Innocence. Just as the poem advocates, we too believe that beauty can be found in the simple and pure things around us and the possibilities endless when we exercise our imagination.

Eunice is both the brains and brawn behind Heaven in a Wild Flower, where she is currently chief stylist, florist, designer, marketer, and multi-tasker. Her stint living abroad in the US and UK has influenced her style aesthetic, which can be described as eclectic, vintage, colourful with bits of rustic elements thrown in. She likes pretty things and making things pretty, be it occasions, flowers, food or interiors.

Shop Wonderland
Shop Wonderland is brand birthed from Wonderland for Detailed Planners.

Founded in 2010, we started off as a Tiffany chairs hire business and an event stylist whose vision for any project was to create tasteful and subtly whimsical venue decor and tablescapes for both corporate events and weddings. In 2012, we introduced Shop Wonderland, to provide both industry clients and end-consumers greater accessibility to WFDP’s decor products, flowers and design style. Today we are known for our F&B and Floral shopfront, serving up a beautiful ambience, a pantry of delectable bakes, and textural floral creations for bouquets, bridal and corporate events.

Melissa, the founder of the business, comes from an established background in fashion business management. She has spent the last decade in the fashion retail business, developing an acute taste for aesthetics and visual presentation. Having been responsible for setting up and managing brands such as Jo Malone, Juicy Couture, and Club Monaco for Southeast Asia, her passion and dedication to creating amazing aesthetics has led her to create this wonderland for consumers in Singapore. Floristry evolved to be a necessity of the styling business, which led her to floristry training in the UK, and to acquire a depth of experience in the 4 years of creating florals for events and weddings.
